A lot has happened since my last blog entry !.
Last summer I was feeling rather off-colour, and after a few visits to the GP, and a second GP and various antibiotics the third GP at the practice shuttled me straight into hospital. A few days in ITU followed (I don't remember them at all !) then test results came back from Liverpool and I was shuttled onto the air ambulance the next morning for a couple of weeks in the penthouse, well, the 9th floor, of the Liverpool Royal hospital. Thankfully they got me sorted out with their wizard machines and skills and I was sent home with a huge bag of pills for the next 3 months, I felt like a drug smuggler getting on the flight home !. I have had a series of treatments locally and now just on a cocktail of pills to keep the blood results going in the right direction.
I have been able to get back in the shack, have put up a new 2m aerial (must update the picture !) and fitted an electric winch to take the strain out of raising the mast, but there is a little work needed to be done on the mast, like a new winch wire to be fitted and a little welding to take out the free play allowing it to turn a little in the wind.
Otherwise, I'm getting out walking again with the dogs, trying to get some things growing in the greenhouse and hoping to be able to get away for a bit of a holiday soon.

I had to do a little bit of drilling to get the winch to fit the existing brackets on the mast but fits fine now and works just great. I have now made a canvas cover to keep the weather (and bird droppings) off it.
The new 2m 9 element yagi is now fitted and working, I must add the new coax to the 'to-do' list !.
