The weather station lost contact with the outdoor unit yesterday so it was time for new batteries. As it is currently clamped onto the rotator cage on the mast it needed to be tilted over and whilst it was on ground level I took the opportunity to do a little tidy up. I had been wondering if the little 23cm yagi between the 2 ZL specials was affecting their performance so dropped that out of the way, and also moved the top ZL away from the 70cm Parabeam a little (which makes the title picture out of date). Batteries all replaced in the weather station and ready to back into service but really want to find a better place for it as it does get zapped by RF at times and gives weird spikes of rainfall and temperature readings !.
Meanwhile, back in the shack this morning and heard a little cw signal on 144.300, F8IQS, Bert near Caen, Normandy calling 'cq-G' so gave him a call and exchanged 559 reports, some qsb on the 600km path but was a little surprise as the beacons were nothing out of the noise, hard to find PI7CIS this morning, it's usually audible in the mornings and GB3VHF was little better. So, as it's a bright calm dry mild morning, got the shelties out in the garden and gave them a good combing to make them look all fluffy again ready for a walk somewhere this afternoon.
Meanwhile, on the bench in a state of nakedness is a piece of test gear which has not been used for a while, just getting a little sort out and hopefully get back into useable condition.
