I have been having another rebuild of the vhf aerials, as the sporadic-E season seemed to have ended I took down the 4m yagi and put the 70cm Parabeam back up. I fitted a new rotator and extended the stub mast slightly and gave the two 7-ele ZL-specials a whirl again for comparison purposes, and after a couple of weeks trial replaced them with the 9-ele PowAbeam. Next job is to take it all to bits again and dismantle the mast to replace the winch cables and do a little welding on the top round section to stop it turning in the middle square tube, the lugs must be worn or rusted away over the years.
I must remember to get a new photo too !
I got some new QSL cards printed and dispatched to a few direct I had waiting, I'll have to go through the log some cold dark winter night and catch up :-)
In the mean time, I'm watching the solar forecasts and wondering if the impending impact from a CME will actually do anything this time, it seems a long time since I have heard more than a couple of GM stations on 2m via aurora, but I suppose things like this don't come around too often :
Most CMEs seem to be damp squibs after waiting with baited breath :-(
